The short version
Bar Rank LLC collects your name and phone number to run the competition and track your points. GPS location is optional — you choose whether to share it. Bar Rank LLC doesn't sell your data. You can delete your account anytime by emailing Bar Rank LLC. You can opt out of messages anytime by replying STOP.
What Bar Rank LLC Collects
When you check in at a Bar Rank participating bar the following is collected:
- Your name or nickname
- Your mobile phone number (used as your unique account identifier)
- Your GPS location at the time of check-in — only if you grant permission
- Your check-in activity, points earned, and gameplay history at that bar
- The date and time of your check-ins
- Your consent timestamp and source when you agree to these terms
Bar Rank LLC does not collect payment information, email addresses, or any government-issued identification. Location is only captured at the moment you tap Check In — Bar Rank LLC does not track your location at any other time.
How Bar Rank LLC Uses It
- To track your points and rank across visits at the bar
- To display your name or nickname on the in-bar leaderboard TV
- To verify your physical presence at the bar at the time of check-in (location only, if permitted)
- To send you SMS messages from the bar on behalf of the bar via Bar Rank (opt-out available)
- To generate anonymous aggregate statistics for bar owners (e.g. total check-ins, busiest nights)
- To maintain a record of your consent to these terms
Location Data
Bar Rank requests access to your device's GPS location through your browser at the time of check-in. This is used solely to verify that you are physically present at the participating bar — helping bar owners maintain fair competition.
Location permission is entirely optional. If you deny location permission your check-in will still be processed normally. Your check-in may be flagged as unverified in the bar owner's admin panel but you will not be blocked from participating, subject to the discretion of the bar owner.
If you grant location permission, your GPS coordinates at the time of each check-in are stored securely in our database. This data is accessible to Bar Rank staff and the bar owner for platform integrity purposes only. It is never sold or shared with third parties.
Bar Rank LLC does not track your location outside of the check-in event. Location is only captured at the exact moment you tap Check In.
Who Sees Your Data
The bar owner and their staff can see your name, nickname, total points, and check-in history at their bar. They cannot see your activity at other bars.
Bar Rank LLC staff can access your data for support and platform integrity purposes.
Bar Rank LLC does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing purposes.
Your phone number is never displayed publicly. It is used only as your account identifier and for SMS communication.
Data Security
Your data is stored in a secure cloud database (Supabase) with row-level security policies that restrict access to authorized personnel and systems only. Bar Rank LLC uses industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) for all data transfers.
Access to your personal data is limited to Bar Rank LLC staff, the bar owner at the bar where you checked in, and the database systems required to operate the platform.
No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach involving your personal information Bar Rank LLC will notify affected users as required by applicable law.
SMS Messages
If you have consented to SMS messages at check-in, you may receive occasional messages from the bar you visited via Bar Rank. These may include competition updates, special offers, and event announcements.
To opt out of SMS messages reply STOP to any message at any time. After opting out you will not receive further messages from that bar.
Bar Rank LLC maintains a record of your opt-in consent including the timestamp and source of consent. Bar Rank LLC complies with TCPA requirements for SMS communication.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies by bar.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as the bar you checked into is active on the Bar Rank platform. If a bar closes or leaves the platform, your data associated with that bar may be deleted within 90 days.
Season-level check-in data may be archived when a bar owner runs a season reset. Your player profile and lifetime points are retained until you request deletion.
Your Rights — Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. To request deletion:
- Email Bar Rank LLC at BarRank.LLC@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request"
- Include the phone number associated with your account
- Bar Rank LLC will delete your account and all associated personal data within 30 days
Note that deleting your account will remove you from all leaderboards and forfeit any unclaimed prizes.
You also have the right to request a copy of the personal data Bar Rank LLC holds about you. Email Bar Rank LLC at the address above with the subject "Data Access Request."
Children
Bar Rank is intended for use in licensed bars and is not directed at anyone under the age of 21. Bar Rank LLC does not knowingly collect information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided Bar Rank LLC with personal information, please contact Bar Rank LLC immediately.
Changes To This Policy
Bar Rank LLC may update this policy from time to time. Bar Rank LLC will post the updated policy at this URL. For significant changes Bar Rank LLC will notify users via SMS where possible. The date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last updated.
